THE DUGOUT

FADE IN

ON IMAGES FROM A CEMETERY LANDSCAPE drawn upon a bright pink canvas; a nightmarish panorama imagined by Poe... realized by Freud:

a naked woman with horns straddles a flaming motorcycle plummeting into an open grave;

a snake-eyed skeleton rising from another gleefully fires a machine gun at the mother of all vampire bats;

a winged cherub with a sly grin hovers over the scene, a cigarette in one hand, a bottle marked "XXX" in the other;

a stylized cartoon tombstone, complete with a full moon behind it, a black cat in mid-hiss standing atop it, and the letters "R.I.P." inscribed upon it. Over this we hear:

.......... ..........WAYNE'S VOICE

Guys, when I die I think I want my headstone to read: "Take two steps back, you’re standing on my bladder." That ought to amuse visitors, huh?

..........

REVEAL the cemetery is one of many TATTOOS adorning a young WOMAN’s barely-clad-in-leather body.

THREE clean-cut GUYS in their late thirties staring at the Tattooed Woman from across the counter of A TATTOO PARLOR.

WAYNE is dressed as if he just came from the office and has the expression of someone who wishes he hadn’t gone in the first place.

SEAN wears a Hawaiian shirt and a puffs a cigar. He may be a funny looking fellow but he radiates the kind of acidic intelligence funny looking fellows usually radiate.

JD has a Boston Red Sox cap on his head and shiny Fenway Park Grounds Keeping Crew windbreaker on his back. He’s devastatingly handsome, but there’s a blissfully ignorant twinkle in his eye.

..........SEAN

My God, Wayne, you really are only looking at her tattoos, aren’t you?

..........

..........WAYNE

I have an eye for the finer details.

..........SEAN

Believe me you are NOT looking at this woman's finer details.

..........

Tattooed Woman looks JD up and down hungrily and smiles, tossing her hair back.

..........TATTOOED WOMAN

You’re a Libra, right?

..........JD

No, democrat.
