THE LOVE GOD

...

INT. /EXT. YOUNG JAKE'S BEDROOM - MORNING

Young Jake rolls out of bed, stands, looks out his window. His bleary eyes focus and widen.

OUT HIS WINDOW, a big moving truck is parked in front of the Evers house. Two movers haul the king size mattress into the truck. Mrs. Evers waits in the passenger seat of the station wagon, wearing shades and a kerchief. A suburban Jackie-O. She looks drugged.

Shocked, Young Jake bolts from the room in his underwear.

INT. YOUNG JAKE'S LIVING ROOM - MORNING

Young Jake ENTERS the living room and stops cold when he sees:

MISTER EVERS sitting across from his dad, a large brown bag at his side. Upon seeing Young Jake, he stands and charges the boy. Before Jake's dad can do anything, Mr. Evers has pushed young Jake to the ground.

Jake looks up at Mr. Evers, expressionless.

Jake's dad steps in between young Jake and Mr. Evers, forcing the man backwards. But Mr. Evers has his gaze locked on young Jake.

.......... ..........MR. EVERS
.....(to young Jake)

Someday I'm gonna come back. I'm gonna find you...

..........

..........DAD

Hey, Frank, come on, he's just a kid.

..........MR. EVERS
.....(continuing)

...and I'm gonna make you wish you were never born...

This makes Jake's dad push Mr. Evers further back.

..........DAD

Don't you threaten my son like that! He's just a kid, I'll handle him.

..........MR. EVERS
.....(possessed)

Your daddy here won't be around to save you either, punk! I'm gonna send you straight to fuckin' hell!

..........DAD

Let me handle him!

Mr. Evers reaches down, grabs the brown bag and hurls it at Jake, spilling out the dead flowers and love letters he wrote, which have been ripped to shreds. The scrap heap from a severed romance. Jake is covered with it.

Young Jake's dad pushes Mr. Evers out the front door and locks the madman out. He then turns calmly to young Jake-

..........DAD

Now son...

-who suddenly jumps up, rushes past his dad and out the door.
