Party House Comedy
|
It is a fact well-known to scholars of architecture that in order to create great structures, a student of the craft must first live in one. Many universities send their brightest budding talent to work and study in, say, a Frank Lloyd Wright house for a semester. During work hours they are responsible for guiding tours, groundskeeping and other chores. Off times are spent admiring the splendor and learning from a master in the purest way: through his work. PARTY HOUSE asks this. What if the campus party animal realizes the Architecture Department's Work/Study Program is a chance to get free room and board for a semester, scams his way onto the elite list and proceeds to thrash a masterpiece of modern architecture? Hearts & Diamonds Romantic Comedy Spec Script |
Simply put, it's MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM set in the
cutthroat world of commercial jingle-writing. Wes Moore loves his wife
Kaylin so much, he's determined to find a boyfriend for the only woman,
his assistant Linda, who could steal him away from Kaylin. Meanwhile Kaylin
has become insanely jealous and, with a little help from her friend Dara,
concocts a fictitious romance with "Astin Lombardo" a character
from her favorite romance novel. In a twist that can only happen in the
movies, Wes meets with a struggling songwriter- Seth- who's been looking
to make it in the jingle-writing business. Seth used to be a male model.
One of his first gigs was posing as the hunk for a romance novel cover...
he was the face of "Astin Lombardo." Realizing Kaylin's fabricated
her affair, Wes decides to play a Valentine's Day prank on her. Of course
the prank balloons into a couples counseling nightmare as a host of philandering
aquaintances drop by Wes and Kaylin's for the night (Wes's arrogant manager,
an Irish cocktail waitress, a poetic postal worker). As fast as you can
say "plop, plop, fizz, fizz..." it turns into every couple for
themselves and only the strong will survive. Go here for an excerpt from HEARTS & DIAMONDS |

Not that Nonna has ever given Gina any credit. All the old lady talks
about is her wonderful grandsons - Gina's three brothers...the most selfish
individuals Gina's ever had the displeasure of being directly related
to. Things change drastically when Nonna passes away and Gina's brothers
begin fighting over the estate, boiling Gina's blood at every turn. But
Nonna's will has a surprise that nobody sees coming. Something that will

Detroit Rock City Adventure / Comedy / New Line, 1999 |
Four teenage boys, growing up in the 1970's, are united in their hate of disco and their total worship of the rock-and-roll band KISS. One of the guys obtains KISS tickets, but his mother is horrified when she discovers them. Instead of allowing her son to go see the concert, she destroys all four of the tickets. Devastated, the boys plot ways and means to get to see their idols. Their pilgrimage leads them into all kinds of trouble, including takng their clothes off at the local male strip club's amateur night (à la The Full Monty). A big highlight for Carl, a huge KISS fan himself, was the agreement of KISS to actually appear in the film. This appearance by KISS is the crowning touch to the film's hilarious romp through 1970's coming-of-age teen rebellion and angst. Go here for an excerpt of DETROIT ROCK CITY. |
